Gift Code Terms

Effective 11 March 2015


By purchasing and/or redeeming a gift code for an in-game virtual item (“Gift Code(s)”) for use in Final Fantasy XIV (the “Game”), you re-affirm your agreement to the Square Enix Terms of Use and the Final Fantasy XIV User Agreement (the “SE Agreements”), as well as any stipulations outlined in these terms and conditions. Your particular attention is drawn to our waiver and limitation of liability below.

Please read these terms and conditions carefully. The purchase and/or redemption of Gift Codes for the Game is conditional upon your acceptance of these terms and conditions.


These Gift Code Terms ("Terms") are issued by Square Enix Limited a company incorporated under the laws of England and Wales with registered number 01804186 and office at 240 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NW, England ("Square Enix," "We" or "Us"). Our grant of a licence is conditional upon you accepting these Terms. Any provision not defined herein shall have the meaning ascribed to it in the SE Agreements.

1. Licence

Subject to your agreement to these Terms, Square Enix grants you a limited revocable licence to purchase a Gift Code for the sole purpose of gifting to another user within the Game or redeeming a Gift Code for a virtual in-game item for personal use and in accordance with these Terms. You will not receive any ownership or other rights in and to the Gift Codes and/or any associated in-game virtual items.


2. Conditions

The following general conditions apply to the purchase and/or redemption of Gift Codes:

i) Gift Codes can only be purchased from the FFXIV: Mog Station found here.
ii) Gift Codes can only be used to gift an in-game virtual item from one user to another within the Game.
iii) Gift Codes are valid for one time redemption only and cannot be exchanged or refunded.
iv) Gift Codes issued will be listed under the purchaser’s payment history in their Square Enix Account.
v) Gift Codes purchased by users registered in any PAL Territory Country* shall, if unused, expire three (3) years after the date of purchase.
vi) Gift Codes purchased by users registered in Japan shall, if unused, expire one hundred and eighty (180) days after the date of purchase.
vii) All purchases of Gift Codes are final and non-refundable, regardless of whether or not such gift code has been redeemed.
viii) You must be the owner of the Square Enix Account that you wish to redeem the Gift Code against.
ix) You must have an active Service Account for the Game with at least one active character associated with such Service Account in order to redeem a Gift Code.
x) You cannot redeem a Gift Code against a Service Account which (i) is subject to an active Free Trial period and/or (ii) suspended due to a violation of the Service Agreement or suspicious account access and/or (iii) already has the in-game item associated with it.
xi) You are required to log out from the Game before newly created characters are reflected on the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station. Please note that it may take time for newly created characters to appear after logging out.
xii) Gift Codes cannot be redeemed when the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station is under maintenance.

3. Exclusions

You agree:

i) not to use Gift Codes for any activity relating to the trade of real-world money, in-game currency or in-game virtual items;
ii) not to use the Gift Codes for any sales or commercial use;
iii) not to use the Gift Codes to promote other commercial products;
iv) not to use any Gift Codes in conjunction with any of the following: unapproved Square Enix assets; counterfeit merchandise; pornography; unlicensed Square Enix music available for streaming or download, or links to unlicensed Square Enix music available for streaming or download; and
v) not to use any Gift Codes for any other purpose that is illegal or is likely to bring the Square Enix name into disrepute.

4. Term and Termination

These Terms shall remain in effect from the point of purchase until redemption of a Gift Code. Square Enix reserves the express right to revoke the Gift Code licence at any time on notice.


5. Support

If you encounter problems when redeeming Gift Codes, please contact the Square Enix Support Centre.


6. General Provisions

This is the entire Agreement between Square Enix and you with respect to the purchase and/or redemption of a Gift Code, and this agreement supersedes any prior written or verbal agreements. You agree to its terms by purchasing and/or redeeming any Gift Codes from Square Enix, and to any changes to this Agreement by purchasing and/or redeeming Gift Codes after such changes are posted. This Agreement and any related dispute or claim (contractual or non-contractual) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the parties submits for all purposes in connection with the Agreement (including any such dispute or claim) to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts, save that nothing contained in the Agreement shall limit the right of Square Enix to take any proceeding, suit or action against any party in any other court of competent jurisdiction, nor shall the taking of such proceeding, suit or action in one or more jurisdictions preclude the taking of any other such proceedings suit or action in any other jurisdiction, whether concurrently or not, to the extent permitted by the law of such other jurisdiction.

Any breach of this Agreement would result in irreparable harm to Square Enix. Accordingly, if you breach this Agreement, Square Enix will be entitled to appropriate equitable remedies without bond, security or proof of damages, in addition to any other remedies which may be available.

The Gift Codes are provided "as is."SQUARE ENIX MAKES NO REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED (EITHER IN FACT OR BY OPERATION OF LAW), OR STATUTORY, AS TO ANY MATTER WHATSOEVER. NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY CONTAINED IN THIS AGREEMENT, SQUARE ENIX WILL NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE TRANSACTION CONTEMPLATED UNDER THIS AGREEMENT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOST PROFITS OR LOSS OF BUSINESS, EVEN IF SQUARE ENIX IS APPRISED OF THE LIKELIHOOD OF SUCH DAMAGES OCCURRING.

You may not assign, transfer, license, charge or deal with any of your rights under this Agreement.

A person or entity that is not party to the Contract has no rights to enforce any provision of the Contract whether under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 or otherwise.
