Final Fantasy XIV Gamescom 2018 Cosplay Contest (the “Promotion”) Official Rules

Key Rules

 

  1. Territory; Governing Law:  This Promotion is open only to individuals who are physically present at gamescom in Cologne, Germany, during the Entry Period. The Promotion is subject to German law.

  2. Age Limit:  This Promotion is open only to individuals 13 years of age or older at the date and time of entry ("Participant"). Legal guardians’ permission is required if Participant is under the age of 18.

  3. Entry Period:  You may enter the Promotion only on 25 August 2018 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 Central European Summer Time (the “Entry Period”). 

    4.  

  4. Entry Procedure and Limitations:  In order to enter the Promotion, you must complete the following steps during the Entry Period:

     

    • Attend Gamescom 2018 with valid access on 25 August 2018;
    • Be wearing a costume inspired by Final Fantasy XIV that you have created yourself (the “Costume”);
    • Be one of the first thirty (30) people to sign up at the information desk at Sponsor’s Final Fantasy XIV booth at Gamescom (“Registration Booth”) during the Entry Period dressed in your Costume;
    • Be photographed in your Costume by Sponsor’s representatives; and
    • Provide the following information to Sponsor’s representatives:
      • Your name, age, and, if under the age of 18, name of legal guardian
      • Your Square Enix ID
      • Your Character and World name
      • The name and/or description of your Costume
      • Your nickname/stage name
    • Participate in a costume parade (only 20 finalists will be chosen by the Sponsor’s team at their discretion in application of the criteria described in Sec. E. below) (the “Parade”), taking place on 25 August 2018 during the time slot from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central European Summer Time. This time slot includes a participant briefing and the awarding of the prizes.

    Additional restrictions related to the Costume:

    • Your Costume must not infringe any third party’s rights.
    • Costumes must not be dangerous to the wearer(s) or to others.
    • You must be able to maneuver in the Costumes without assistance.
    • Costumes requiring the participation of two (2) or more people must be worn by all that are required.
    • Your costume must not contain or consist of any of the following:
      • sharpened, pointed, or dangerous objects;
      • large heavy blunt objects;
      • liquid objects with corrosive or hazardous properties;
      • loud objects such as emergency horns or alarms;
      • any other actually, potentially, or apparently illegal, offensive, or dangerous materials.
      • An Entry worn by two (2) or more Contestants shall be treated as one Entry by one registered Contestant and any Prize shall only be awarded to the registered Contestant.

    Directors, officers, shareholders, and employees of Sponsor, Sponsor’s affiliate companies, Sponsor’s vendors, Sponsor’s professional advisors, Sponsor’s advertising and promotional agencies, and each of such employees’, officers’ shareholders’ and directors’ immediate family members and/or those living in the same household (whether legally related or not), are not eligible to enter the Promotion or win a prize.

    Participants can register for the Promotion in German and English language. The Parade itself (stage show) will be presented in German.

    Participants who disrupt the Parade may be excluded at Sponsor’s discretion.

  5. Winner Selection:  The Sponsor, or Sponsor’s designee, shall select three (3) winners from among the twenty (20) finalists that will participate in the parade entries based on the following criteria:
    • Communicating admiration of the Final Fantasy XIV franchise
    • Technical quality of the Costume
    • Skill in creation of the Costume
    • Creativity of the Costume
    • Artistic elements of the Costume

    Sponsor’s (or Sponsor’s designee’s) award decision is final. The right to legal recourse is excluded.

     

  6. Prize(s):  Winners shall receive the following prize: 
    • One (1) First Place Winner:
      • One (1) PlayStation 4 PRO – Stormblood Edition (branded with foil) (approximate retail value of €399.00)
      • One (1) custom trophy (approximate retail value of €29.60)
      • One (1) FINAL FANTASY XIV backpack (approximate retail value of €12.00)
      • One (1) FINAL FANTASY XIV Carbuncle calendar (approximate retail value of €10.00)
      • One (1) FINAL FANTASY XIV Khloe figure with baby chocobo (approximate retail value of €10.00)
    • One (1) Second Place Winner:
      • One (1) custom trophy (approximate retail value of €25.90)
      • One (1) FINAL FANTASY XIV backpack (approximate retail value of €12.00)
      • One (1) FINAL FANTASY XIV Carbuncle calendar (approximate retail value of €10.00)
      • One (1) FINAL FANTASY XIV Khloe figure with baby chocobo (approximate retail value of €10.00)
    • One (1) Third Place Winner:
      • One (1) custom trophy (approximate retail value of €22.90)
      • One (1) FINAL FANTASY XIV Carbuncle calendar (approximate retail value of €10.00)
      • One (1) FINAL FANTASY XIV Khloe figure with baby chocobo (approximate retail value of €10.00)

     

    A transfer or exchange of the prize is not possible. A cash payment is not possible under any circumstances.

     

  7. Winner Notification: Sponsor will notify the three (3) winners at the conclusion of the Parade.

  8. Sponsor:  The Sponsor of this Promotion (and the controller for purposes of data privacy) is Square Enix Limited, 240 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NW, UNITED KINGDOM.

    9.  

  9. Miscellaneous: The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the Promotion or to change these official rules at any time if this appears necessary at its own discretion or if circumstances over which the organizer has no control give rise to this.

 

By entering the Promotion, you agree to be bound and abide by these Key Rules and you represent that you satisfy all eligibility requirements to enter the Promotion.

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS PROMOTION. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. YOU MUST HAVE LEGALLY ACQUIRED ACCESS TO GAMESCOM 2018 PRIOR TO THE LAUNCH OF THE PROMOTION.
